The Funny 2D Lady

This is the title our 11 year old son gave Fran. Fran is very smiley and good fun. As a family, myself, my husband and my son, we all look forward to Fran's weekly sessions. Our son is autistic and is unable to attend school at the moment due to anxiety. Fran has been working with Daniel for about four months and we all take part in her session so that our son doesn't feel the pressure is all on him to communicate with Fran. This works so well for us. She really knows her stuff when it comes to spending time with an autistic 11 year old boy who likes Minecraft and cute animals and has experienced a traumatic time in school. She is amazing at adapting her communication with Daniel. She always thinks ahead and changes her session plan according to Daniel’s interests and needs. She also spends time discussing with us how to build and grow her relationship with Daniel. Fran is described by our son as the Funny 2D lady. He is gradually feeling more and more interested and confident in joining in with her sessions to the point where he is wanting to ‘take the floor’ and show her his interests like the time when he rushed off and dressed up in his stretchy body suit and demonstrated to Fran how he could be a flying squirrel by stretching his arms out and throwing himself onto the bed in order to fly like a squirrel.

Fran is friendly, fun and very intuitive. Fran's kindness and support, especially about trauma, gives us hope that our son will be able to one day enjoy an education.
